Biografia [ITA]:
A fine maggio 2020 pubblicano per RadioSpia records il singolo “What do you think about this world?”, emblematico fotogramma di un momento terribile per l’intera umanità.
Bio [ENG]:
The Hunkies band was born in March 2017 near Rome, with the meeting between Simone Nisom (guitar and vocals), Daniele Imperioli (bass and background vocals) and Alessio Milana (drums). The three musicians expertly mix their blues and funk influences to explore together new creative and sonic ways, with determination in an intense and funny music. The band’s concerts began in June 2017 in Isola Del Liri, a town famous for its twinning with New Orleans (American capital of the Blues) and then touched several important live clubs in Lazio. With “What Do You Think About This World?” (2020, Radiospia), Hunkies won the “High Quality Artist” award of the Tour Music Fest in 2018, among the first 20 of 7000 competitors. The aim of the band is to transmit messages in which they can recognize themselves, projecting emotions and soul contents. They performed on the Sanremo Trend Festival, entering the final on 9th September, 2022 on the Ariston theatre stage. The new E.P. called “Hunkies”, was released on September 21, 2023 on RadioSpia records. It required three years of work, giving the band a stylistic identity and a production worthy of the artistic objectives. We mention artistic collaborations with the collective “The Alpha States“, with the guitarist Alessandro Diaferio and with the keyboardists/pianists Andrea Piacentini and Francesco Michelini. This minialbum also includes a very particular rendition of a 1982 song by the iconic English band “The Cure“, named “Pornography”.
Give More
(Alessio Milana, Daniele Imperioli, Simone Trunzo)
You’re on my mind in every place I go
And it’s my mind in other ways it goes
How much I’ll miss you
You’ll never know, you’ll never know You’ll never…
Don’t be scared darling
To give more
Say what you want to say
Is every time better
To say too much
I know where light is hidden in the past
When you were never meant to feel alone
A sunny day you told me
It’s an illusion, hands in a fusion
You’ll never
Don’t be scared darling
To give more Say what you want to say
To give more, to give more
To give more
You’ll never know, you’ll never know
You’ll never…
It’s an illusion, hands in a fusion
You’ll never…
Don’t be scared darling
To give more
Say what you want to say
To give more
Don’t be scared darling
To give more
Say what you want to say
To give more, to give more
To give more
Is every time better
To say too much.
Pornography
(Simon Johnathon Gallup, Robert Smith, Laurence Andrew Tolhurst)
A hand in my mouth
A life spills into the flowers
We all look so perfect
As we all fall down
In an electric glare
The old man cracks with age
She found his last picture
In the ashes of the fire
An image of the queen
Echoes round the sweating bed
Sour yellow sounds inside my head
In books and films
And in life and in heaven
The sound of slaughter
As your body turns
But it’s too late
One more day like today and I’ll kill you
A desire for flesh and real blood
And I’ll watch you drown in the shower
Push my life through your open eyes
I must fight this sickness
Find a cure
I must fight this sickness
Find a cure
I must fight this sickness
Find a cure
I must fight this sickness
