BIO:
The Pseudofonia band was born in 1989 in the Art Secondary School in Foggia, Apulia, Italy. After the first years of musical research and the recording of some demo-tapes, the band took part in various gigs, gaining confirmations about their mixture of reggae, ska, soundtracks and songwriting, upbeat rhythms coming from Jamaica associated with pulses from the Apulian tradition.
A new sort of patchanka, with lyrics about social subjects and surreal tales, written in Italian and Apulian dialect, with fast rhythms that led the band to excel in national competitions.
In 1997 they won Sonica, an important musical contest in Catania, Sicily, and they were included in the songs collection of the contest. In 1998, the group won Arezzo Wave contest and took part both in the CD and in the National Tour of 20 concerts throughout Italy. During the same year, Pseudofonia won another important music contest in Treviso, Veneto, called Ritmi Globali and participated in the cd released after the competition. July 1998 represents the international victory of Folkcontest and their live performance at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, the greatest folk music convention in the world. In 1999 they released the first CD, an E.P. called KUNZ, enthusiastically reviewed by important music magazines, such as Il Mucchio Selvaggio, Buscadero and Rock Sound.
KUNZ is now being released again by the label RadioSpia, in a re-mastered version with a much better sound, enriched with a live track from 1998, under the supervision of the same producer and sound engineer of 1999, Marco Maffei. Is this a first step towards a return to the stage.

SCUTULEJA – Lyrics (Italian)
Luci
Tuffo in mezzo alle luci
Tra sirene e fucili
Il mio urlo è inghiottito
Sabbia
Testa dentro la sabbia
Come fermi aria e tempo
A lasciarmi più solo
Quante volte ho già guardato
Alle spalle per sapere di te
E di quanti hanno pagato
Il loro viaggio e le illusioni
Ed i perché
Con un bagno, un ritorno
All’infanzia e all’innocenza abbandonati
In acque sempre più
Sempre più, sempre più
Mosse… e ‘ntruculej
Cust fatt’è succis veramente
Succede tutt’i iurne me sole n’ze sent
Troppe assaie ‘sti nire è tutta ggent che
Sa mene ‘nda stu munn
Che pe’llore è n’ata America
E po’ se trova quasa sempe che
E po’ se trova quasa sempe ‘ndè
E po’ se trova quasa sempe ‘ndè
‘mbruglie, o bun che v’c
Scutuleja
I pummador, i pummador
Piedi
Come un treno i miei piedi
E il vapore dal corpo
Che risucchia ogni
Sorta di angoscia e timore
Lingua
Io non sento più lingua
Masticata dai denti
Persi nella saliva
Quanti passi ho già contato
Aspettando nuova luce… e quann’è
Poi a rendermi la vita
Prima i fari sulla strada ‘e sapè
Finalmente ferma un’auto
E il ritorno si allontana per me
Che ho bisogno di stare
Ho bisogno di stare
Ho bisogno di stare
In questa America… e scutuleja
Ma n’te penzanne che na vota
Che u viaggie è fenute
Tu si ggià arrivat
Pecchè n’è ruer
Quanta vote che t’accurg
Che tu vuje cagnà
Quanta vote che t’accurg
Che nun vuje turnà
E po’ succede quase semp che
E po’ succede quase semp che
E po’ succede quase semp che
Piggh e bune che v’c
Scutuleja
I pummador, i pummador
Che amma passà
(Exodus, movement of Jah people)
