Hunkies – Biography
The Hunkies band was born in March 2017 near Rome, with the meeting between Simone Nisom (guitar and vocals), Daniele Imperioli (bass and background vocals) and Alessio Milana (drums).
The name of the band, after some changes, has taken a definitive turn just before this release on RadioSpia records.
The three musicians expertly mix their blues and funk influences to explore together new creative and sonic ways, with candor and determination in an intense and funny music.
The band’s concerts began in June 2017 in Isola Del Liri, a town famous for its twinning with New Orleans (American capital of the Blues) and then touched several important live clubs in Lazio. With track 1 of this single, the HUNKIES won the “High Quality Artist” award of the Tour Music Fest in 2018, among the first 20 of 7000 competitors.
The aim of the band is to create original songs in which listeners can reflect themselves, and to transmit universal messages believing that every musician, with his music, produces a projection of himself, of his emotions and of his soul.
Alessio Milana
He entered the drums world at the age of 15, as a self-taught. Later he studied at a local school and began his first experiences with some bands. From 2015 to 2018 he continued his studies at the Saint Luis College of Music in Rome, expanding his cultural and musical background.
Daniele Imperioli
He began studying singing at 17 with Marta Capponi and then with Titta Tani in Rome. Then he also got enchanted by the electric bass and enhanced his education with Silvio Assaiante.
Simone Nisom
He began playing guitar at the age of 14. He graduated in Scotland in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Music. From 2017 to 2019 he taught guitar at the ” Scuola di Musica Dimensione Suono” in Valmontone – RM and he is now a teacher and technical director at the “New Music Academy”, affiliated with the Latina Conservatory of music.
What Do Think About This World? – Lyrics
What do you think about…?
Why would I be your hero?
I’m not able to answer
This kinds of questions
When you think about the world
And the people in it
Do you think mankind is good
Or doomed to self-destruction?
What do you think about this world?
Close to me
Inside my story
You were born and raised
See the world through the filters
That you put in place
Is it interesting that world
Refers only to what we know?
Without confusing desires with needs
Without confusing desires with needs
What do you think about this world?
Living a life to become nobody
Is a bit strange
I’ve been many things
But in the end I’m nobody
What do you think about this world?
Day of Devotion – Lyrics
Nobody can take my soul
‘Cause it’s mine, only mine
I don’t need your inquisition
And the rules of exhibition
Won’t You listen to me
Here and now?
Won’t You listen to me
Here and now?
I can stand alone
‘Cause my hot blood is gone
This music got
Something in motion
Cold blood requires devotion
If You only could walk
With my shoes
If You only could walk
With my shoes
Cold blood requires devotion
This music got
Something in motion.
Cold blood requires devotion,
This music got
Something in motion.
I want a day
I want a day
I want a day
I want a day of devotion
